Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams

“Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.’ ” – Genesis 41:39-40

3. What caused the cupbearer to remember Joseph? Pharaoh had a dream, and no one could interpret them. Something similar happened to the cupbearer while he was in prison, Joseph interpreted his dream, and it turned out exactly what he had interpreted.

4. a. Joseph acknowledged God as the source of his interpretation. What does that reveal about Joseph? He knew this ability to interpret dreams comes from God, and he gave credits to God.

b. When has God used other people and His Word to guide you to answers only He can provide? Especially when there are decisions to make, discussing with others, sometimes advice could be a guide that God provided.

5. What message did God send to Pharaoh through his dreams? There will be 7 years of great abundance in Egypt, followed by 7 years of famine. No one will remember the years of abundance because the famine is so severe.

6. What lessons do you learn from Joseph’s timely call to appear before Pharaoh as well as his God-given words to Pharaoh? Joseph’s years of sufferings and unjust treatment allows him to rely on God. When God works, he is ready to be used by God.
