Summary of Genesis 7
In this chapter, we see the phrase, Noah did all that the Lord commanded him
(and similar phrases), was mentioned a few times. Noah was obedient and worked by faith.
God told Noah, and his family to enter the ark. God also brought all the various animals of all kinds to enter the ark. God shut them in the ark, began to rain for 40 days. The water rose and flooded the earth and covered the mountains and every living thing on earth.
Questions
What stands out to you about God’s judgment? What questions does God’s judgment raise for you? The result of sin is death, and there is no escape from it.
What does the flood teach you about faith in God’s Word and God’s faithfulness to His Word? As God keeps Noah, a man who is faithful and righteous, safe; God is the only one and the only way who can keep us safe from judgment.
How is the flood an encouragement to some and a warning to others? Which is it to you? This is an encouragement for those who are clinging on to God and his faithfulness. This is a warning for those who are dwelling in sin.
How does this passage impact the way you interact with others? Everyone is sinful, and the result is death. Many people still do not know this fact; they need to be told, and it is up to them to decide.
