Questions

7. How did God show grace to Joseph through his unjust imprisonment? God shown kindness and granted him favor, and the prison warden put him in charge and responsible for all those held in prison.

8. What truth emerges from Genesis 39:2, 3, 5, 21 and 23? Why is this important? God was with Joseph, God blessed him and gave him success in whatever he did.

9. a. What does the Bible teach about hardship and suffering? (See Genesis 50:20; Psalm 119:50; John 16:33; Romans 8:28-29; 2 Corinthians 4:17; 1 Peter 1:6-7 and Revelation 21:4.) God intended harm to be for good. We could rely on God for comfort. There are troubles, but God has overcome all.

b. What truth from these verses particularly encourages you this week? And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Whether in good times or bad, God is at work within and around us.

10. What could Joseph have learned in his trials as a servant and prisoner in Egypt that prepared him for the future? (See Genesis 41:39-40.) 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.” Joseph became second in command, took charge of everything under the Pharaoh.
