The rivalry between Rachel and Leah continued, and Rachel eventually gave birth to Joseph

“I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.” – Genesis 31:13

Summary of Genesis 30:14-24

Reuben, Leah’s son, found some mandrake plants, which Rachel wanted and asked for some. Rachel gave Jacob to Leah to sleep with her in exchange for the mandrake. Leah agreed, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah. Later, God enabled Rachel to conceive, and she gave birth to Joseph.

6. How did the sisters’ rivalry impact Jacob and the children? Jacob is an item for exchange, and children are the prizes.

7. a. How was Rachel ultimately enabled to give birth? God remembered and God’s mercy allowed Rachel to conceive.

b. What does this reveal about God? God is sovereign.
