Summary of Genesis 8:15-22
Here we see that God spoke and told Noah to come out of the ark. Again, we see Noah’s obedience to stay in the ark until God calls him to come out. As soon as that happens, Noah’s worships God. Here, we can see Noah’s priority; his faith and reverence for God are expressed in his worship. His appropriate sacrifice pleases God (The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma
). God is delighted to those who act in faith.
Questions
What instructions and promises did God give? God instructs Noah to come out of the ark and to multiply in numbers. After Noah offered burnt offerings, God promises never to destroy all living creatures.
How did Noah respond? Why? Noah and family, and all the animals responded to God to come out of the ark. Noah built an altar and worship God. Noah displayed his faith and reverence for God.
What sacrifice ultimately pleased God? (See John 12:27-33; Romans 3:25-26; 1 Peter 2:21-24.) Jesus, the son of God, sacrificed and died on the cross.
What sacrifices can you offer in response to God today? (See Proverbs 21:3; Hosea 6:6; Micah 6:8; John 15:13; Romans 12:1-2; and Hebrews 13:15-16 to expand your thinking beyond this passage.) From these scriptures, we are to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. I have to offer up my time to dwell and devote to God, offer up time to serve God.
